CRC Data Technologies - "Delivering on the Promise of Technology"
Cameron Rowe was destined to create what is now CRC Data Technologies, a Destin-based technology solutions provider for businesses across Northwest Florida. At age 10, when his father brought home their first computer, Cameron’s passion for IT and technology was ignited. Cameron spent much of his youth sharing his enthusiasm for technology by helping friends and relatives solve their technical struggles. At the young age of 16, he decided he ought to get paid to do what he loves and acquired a business license. As Rowe puts it, “I started as an engineer, not an entrepreneur.” Cameron had the passion and the skill, but still faced the common challenges that present themselves when starting a business.
What did Cameron do when he was faced with an obstacle? He overcame it. When his landlord wanted to double his rent, he left and bought an office space so he didn’t have to worry about that problem in the future. When fixing issues after they’ve occurred became a nuisance, Cameron restructured his business to focus on preventing issues before they occur. Cameron has stressed the importance of being able to “adapt, learn, and grow” as an entrepreneur. He has been successful in navigating the uncertain times during the Covid-19 pandemic, stating that the biggest challenge is a “lack of camaraderie” due to remote working. Despite the challenges that entrepreneurship has presented, Cameron has found ways to rise above them.
After almost 30 years in business, Cameron has not lost an ounce of the passion that he had when he started. He says that entrepreneurship offers continuous new challenges every day and he appreciates every minute of it. With little marketing exposure, CRC Data Technologies was built mainly on reputation and referrals from current clientele. Cameron believes that this accounts for a lot of his initial success, stressing the importance of having good connections with your clients. Without word-of-mouth advertising, his company wouldn’t be what it is today.
For the entirety of his career, Cameron’s goal has been to make technology deliver on the promise of making life better, or at least easier. In doing so, he’s served the role of engineer, tackling technical challenges and studied entrepreneurship along the way. This means he’s had to learn how to overcome obstacles, be flexible, and make meaningful connections that help his business thrive. These are all valuable lessons and ones that any aspiring entrepreneur can relate to. Without passion, however, none of this would’ve been possible for Cameron. If you’re looking to start your own business, find what it is that you’re passionate about, and go for it.
Advice corner from Cameron

2. Building a business is hard, if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
3. When faced with an obstacle, find the opportunity within rather than dwelling on the challenge.
4. If you’re looking to start a business, begin by determining where it is your passion lies.
